about Us
The Postal Market is a labor of love from co-owners Mark Neill and Vi Keller. When
acquiring the building of the original Post Office, a vision of celebrating the history of
Alanson area with a new culinary outlet began.

Mark, a Petoskey native, has spent most of his life in northern Michigan, with a few winter seasons in the Jupiter, Florida area. He has held Chef and Executive Chef positions throughout northern Michigan, which allowed him to attend extended education courses at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park and St. Helena. Most of his career has been dedicated to private dinners, country clubs, and golf clubs, with his most recent roles including the opening of Travato at Hidden River and the meat department at Toski-Sands.

Vi, an Indiana native, came to northern Michigan in 1990 from Arizona when she was offered a summer seasonal position in Harbor Springs. Her career has included several restaurant, club, and multi-unit management roles, with her most recent being as the owner of Scovie’s Gourmet in Charlevoix for 20 years.

Mark and Vi first met at The Little Harbor Club in 1992, where Vi was transitioning to the back of the house and worked under Mark’s supervision. That meeting sparked a relationship and friendship that has lasted more than 30 years. Their shared passion for food and travel has formed the foundation of their mutual respect and appreciation for each other’s experience and culinary style—leading them to their newest adventure.
